We have a strict policy against de-matting. At our groomer’s discretion, we can potentially save certain areas of your dog’s coat that are not too close to the skin or painful for them. Our three-step conditioning bath process works wonders in helping to loosen tight coats and packed undercoats. If it is deemed that your dog is too matted, we will let you know that a full shave-down is necessary. We do not shave dogs down for ANY reason other than the coat’s condition at check-in, and we will keep you fully informed throughout the process — no surprise shave-downs here!
We use an all-inclusive pricing model to ensure that your dog receives the services they need to support their health and wellness, using premium, plant-based products without limitations. When you make an appointment, we’ll provide you with a customized pricing estimate based on your dog’s approximate groom time.
Many competing grooming salons will recommend and charge clients for specialty add-ons. Understandably, owners who are trying to keep the grooming costs down will decline the add-ons, which often leads to dogs not receiving what they need. We don’t believe in this model and built Hippie Hounds to make premium, all-inclusive care with unlimited personalizations a reality and an essential healthcare practice for your dog.
Our commitment to your dog’s holistic health is woven into every decision we make — from the shampoos and conditioners we use to our air filtration system. Having seen hazardous industry practices firsthand, we take a firm stance against using any apparatus (e.g., belly bands, Groomer’s Helper) or following any practice that can put your dog at risk. Instead, we lean on our expertise to provide every dog in our care with the most gentle solutions dedicated to their comfort.
No dog is too big, temperamental, matted, etc. We love every dog the same while treating them as the individuals they are. Believe us when we say we’ve seen it all, and we promise that your dog is in excellent hands at Hippie Hounds — no exceptions.
Just as all dogs are different, so are all dog grooming processes at Hippie Hounds. Every decision we make is a corrective response to how your dog is handling the service. If a dog is anxious in our care, we will never force them to withstand haircuts out of their comfort zone. Sometimes, we must take a different approach than previously discussed or desired by the owner if the dog is matted, sensitive, scared, or bites at the tools. We communicate with our clients about their dog’s grooming experience and share any positive training tips to practice at home to aid in desensitization toward grooming.
