Unlike many dog grooming businesses, ours is owned by grooming professionals with 21 years of experience, and most members of our team have a minimum of 5 years of experience — half with more than 15 years. As a result, we’ve seen what doesn’t work so we’ve created what does — and we’re really good at what we do!
We prioritize and require continued education and, in turn, funnel skill development across all team members. This includes an online training subscription and annual attendance at Super Zoo in Las Vegas, the pet industry’s largest convention, as well as the Northwest Grooming Show in Tacoma, WA. In fact, we were featured speakers at Super Zoo in 2023!
Our vast experience with all dog breeds, sizes, temperaments, and coat conditions leads to fewer safety incidents and higher quality, more consistent grooming results than those of our competition.

- Use positive reinforcement training (with homemade treats) and a gentle hands-on approach to ensure your dog’s comfort and safety
- Only use dog-friendly appliances and grooming techniques
- Only use the best, most gentle premium products, almost all of which are completely plant-based
- Work diligently to keep a clean and hazard-free workplace
- Use a clean-air, HEPA filtration system and air scrubbers to help with allergies and prioritize the prevention of respiratory illnesses
We DON’T
- Use harmful grooming restraints (e.g., belly bands, Groomer’s Helpers) of any kind
- Use kennel dryers or any grooming equipment that’s hazardous or uncomfortable for dogs
- Use any products containing sulfates, parabens, phthalates, and surfactants
We Have All-Inclusive Pricing
Because we prioritize your dog’s holistic health and treat every groom as a unique experience, we use an all-inclusive pricing model to incorporate all the bells and whistles of pampering. This allows us to make our care decisions solely based on your dog’s need for optimal health without charging you for any add-ons after the fact. Instead, our pricing is determined by the length of time and number of hands needed to perform your dog’s groom, with her breed, coat condition, behavior, and size as factors.
We Personalize Our Care
Our services are tailored to every dog breed, size, and coat type as well as to every single dog in our care. We take a customized approach that accounts for your dog’s unique needs and holistic wellness. This could mean varied products and/or services used across grooming visits depending on the length of time between them and all other contributing factors that impact your dog’s coat condition. Every dog is an individual, and we treat them as such.

There’s NO need to be embarrassed to bring in your dog, regardless of the circumstance! Hippie Hounds is a safe, judgment-free space. We are here to educate, not guilt.
Our team of professionals is up for any challenge, from ocean-soaked, sandy fur to matts and muddy paws — and everything in between.
We are well-equipped, in staff and equipment, to groom dogs of ALL sizes, medical conditions, physical disabilities (e.g., dogs in wheelchairs), and behaviors.
Our salon has a 1:1 human-to-dog ratio at all times. Even if your dog needs someone to hold and console them through the entire groom, we’re prepared with the right number of hands for the job. We even dedicate Tuesdays to dogs with special needs and temperaments.
To avoid discrimination in our work environment, we do not honor gender-based grooming requests. However, having such a vast range of experience allows our team to de-escalate and even improve a dog’s gender-based fears through positive, hands-on reinforcement.
