Unlike many dog grooming businesses, ours is owned by grooming professionals with 21 years of experience, and most members of our team have a minimum of 5 years of experience — half with more than 15 years. We prioritize and require continued education and, in turn, funnel skill development across all team members. This includes an online training subscription and annual attendance at Super Zoo in Las Vegas, the pet industry’s largest convention, as well as the Northwest Grooming Show in Tacoma, WA. In fact, we were featured speakers at Super Zoo in 2023!
Our vast experience with all dog breeds, sizes, temperaments, and coat conditions leads to fewer safety incidents and higher quality, more consistent grooming results than those of our competition.

- Work diligently to keep a clean and hazard-free workplace
- Use a clean-air filtration system that helps with allergies
We DON’T
- Use harmful grooming restraints (e.g., belly bands, Groomer’s Helpers) of any kind
- Use kennel dryers or any grooming equipment that’s hazardous or uncomfortable for dogs
- Use any products containing sulfates, parabens, phthalates, and surfactants

Because we prioritize your dog’s holistic health and treat every groom as a unique experience, we use an all-inclusive pricing model to incorporate all the bells and whistles of pampering. This allows us to make our care decisions solely based on your dog’s need for optimal health without charging you for any add-ons after the fact. Instead, our pricing is determined by the length of time and number of hands needed to perform your dog’s groom, with her breed, coat condition, behavior, and size as factors.

Our services are tailored to every dog breed, size, and coat type as well as to every single dog in our care. We take a customized approach that accounts for your dog’s unique needs and holistic wellness. This could mean varied products and/or services used across grooming visits depending on the length of time between them and all other contributing factors that impact your dog’s coat condition. We are well-equipped, in staff and equipment, to groom dogs of ALL sizes, medical conditions, physical disabilities (e.g., dogs in wheelchairs), and behaviors.
Our salon has a 1:1 human-to-dog ratio at all times. Even if your dog needs someone to hold and console them through the entire groom, we’re prepared with the right number of hands for the job. We even dedicate Tuesdays to dogs with special needs and temperaments.
To avoid discrimination in our work environment, we do not honor gender-based grooming requests. However, having such a vast range of experience allows our team to de-escalate and even improve a dog’s gender-based fears through positive, hands-on reinforcement.

Aaron has been dog grooming professionally since he was 14 years old, and has a love for dogs so strong that it encouraged him to build Hippie Hounds from the ground up, with Amanda and Anna by his side, with the sole purpose being providing dogs with better grooming services than the industry standard.
As CFO, Shop Director, and Groomer, Aaron does a little bit of everything. He keeps the schedule running smoothly, makes sure the team is set up for success, and is the go-to person for handling the biggest, wildest, or most nervous dogs. He has a calm confidence that helps dogs settle in and staff stay grounded. And he genuinely enjoys the puzzle of fitting all the day’s moving parts together.

🐶📣 Your Dog Wants You to Know: High heat, humidity, and too much time in the sun can dry out their coat and cause itchiness. 🐶📣
Giving your dog necessary breaks from the sun and heat is as important as maintaining a regular grooming regimen, which includes at least a monthly re-moisturizing bath, brush, and de-shed/de-mat. All coat types require this maintenance to function properly, as it impacts their ability to regulate their body temperature and prevents skin irritation and other more serious conditions.
